Smart Outerwear for Outdoor Sporting Traditions
100% New Zealand Merino is the finest and highest quality wool fibre on the market today. It shatters every old perception you ever had about wearing wool.
Ibex wool clothing utilises wool in every way: superfine Knitted Merino for silky-soft base layers and mid-weights; Felted Wool for wind, wear, and water-resistant outerwear; and Woven Wool for warmth and durability in jackets and trousers.
None of the itch associated with coarser wool fibres tickling the skin. Ibex Merino virtually eliminates all of the itch. Its performance fibres offer a soft and luxurious feel, yet are strong and durable.
Merino wool’s natural keratin-based fibres repel microbes that cause synthetic fibre clothing to give off unpleasant odour. Unlike synthetic fibres, Merino wool fibres are naturally anti-microbial. Even with prolonged wear, wool garments don’t retain odour. Perspiration is no problem, and will not cause the wool to become foul smelling as can synthetics.
The miracle of wool is that each layer of the fibre interacts differently to moisture to create a truly remarkable microclimate comfort. The outer layer of wool fibre has tiny overlapping scales that function like singles on a roof. Liquid beads up and rolls off without being absorbed. Meanwhile, the protective membrane that covers the scales is porous, allowing the fibre to absorb moisture in the form of vapour. In fact, wool is so absorbent it can hold up to 30% of its own weight in moisture and still feel dry to the touch.
Ibex wool is finished for easy care. Most Ibex fabrics can be cold water machine washed (separately) on a gentle cycle with mild detergent. Lay flat to dry and iron if needed. Not only is Ibex wool easy to care for, the Merino wool itself naturally prevents dirt and stains from penetrating the surface. This quality makes it far easier to clean than other fibres.
