Excellent Quality! -

I purchased this vest for my son who is a college student in the northeast. He loves it! We appreciate the style and quality. It appears this will be part of his wardrobe for years to come. He wears size large in Orvis shirts, so I ordered this vest in size large, and it fits perfectly under his Orvis shirts and sweatshirts.

Own many filson wool vest. The barbour waistcoat. Is a better fit for cool days in the field. Longer just the right amount of insulation. Great pocket layout. No restriction on you gun action.

Very high quality item, as described and sized perfectly. I am going to use it for driven pheasant hunting trip with heavy sweater underneath. Great combo.

Fabulous vest/waistcoat. Excellent detail, as you would expect from a Barbour product. I love the weight - it's not a light shell, but a moderately hefty weight. Plenty of pockets - two large flap pockets outside, as well as two slash pockets to keep your hands warm (or whatever), and two inner pockets - one of which is zippered. And it has that wonderful Barbour waxed cotton, water resistant fabric. Very comfortable, and rustically elegant.

I ordered this vest for my husband for Christmas and he loves it!! I originally ordered a medium as he is 5'5" and about 140. The vest fit perfectly with just a long sleeve shirt so we exchanged it for a large so he could wear something a little thicker under the vest. The exchange process was a breeze. We love the vest and the customer service provided by Orvis!!

I had to order this jacket 3 times because it ran very small. Now that I have one that fits I really like the coat.
Barbour Vest -
The new Barbour Westmorland Vest has all the quality expected from this classic clothier. If you plan to wear it with a sweater a size up makes sense. Large runs closer to a 42, than a 44.

I bought this vest as a seasonal transition piece to use hiking and fishing. The fabric, construction details and styling are all first rate and what I expected from Barbour. I especially like the length, which is longer than typical vest, and gives good coverage below the waist. Fit-wise, I am 6 feet, 175 lbs and a size medium was just right for me, with a bit of room to layer over a sweater. A great purchase.
Since 1894, J. Barbour & Sons have produced clothes perfectly suited to life in the country. Their quality, durable clothing is cut for an active lifestyle and the fit varies according to each garment's design and purpose.
The sizing of Barbour’s clothing is divided into four segments:
In the case of Barbour outerwear, sizing takes into account the appropriate layers beneath. That means you do not need to order a size up for a comfortable fit.

The Barbour Sporting Classic Beaufort Jacket: A jacket that will last for years — even decades — with yearly reproofing.
Your Barbour Jacket — A Great Value that Lasts for Years
With regular reproofing your waxed cotton Barbour jacket will remain waterproof through many years of faithful wear—Barbour receives vintage jackets of thirty, forty, even fifty years of service for reproofing and repair.
Reproofing: the Process that Preserves the Outstanding Quality of Your Jacket
Waxed cotton is made waterproof by impregnating the cotton fabric with a wax specially formulated for the maximum water-resistant qualities. Also called oiling, waxing, redressing, or waterproofing, reproofing is the process of re-applying the wax to keep your jacket fully waterproof and wind resistant. Reproofing helps to protect your favourite jacket from severe elements while rejuvenating and restoring the garment, thus prolonging its years of effectiveness.
Yearly Reproofing Is Best
It’s best to reproof your jacket yearly, especially if you subject it to robust use in the field, where regular conditions include heavy weather, mud, and abrasion. Garments should be cleaned with cold or lukewarm water to remove any mud or debris before being brought in for reproofing. Simply hose down or rinse in a shower, using a soft brush to remove any mud or debris.
How to Submit Your Jacket to Barbour for Reproofing
We highly recommend that you bring your Barbour jacket in to your local Orvis store when it needs repair or treatment. Our retail associates will be happy to take down your information and send your jacket off to Barbour’s UK headquarters for reproofing.
If you don’t have an Orvis store near you, the Barbour website has a form for requesting reproofing as well. For more information, please visit: Barbour Repairs & Reproofing.
