Poor QC -

I purchased two of these rods for a trip to Alaska with my son. The first rod shattered under a guide on the second thickest section while playing the first fish of the trip, an 18 inch rainbow. The second rod performed well - it casted smoothly, roll casted beautifully, and had enough backbone to handle trout in the 5-8 pound range. Unfortunately, chunks of cork started falling out of the handle on day 1, and by the end of the week the handle was in very poor condition. There appears to be a real problem with quality control in the manufacture of this rod.
Great Rod at a Great Price -

I have several Clearwater rods and at this price point, they are great rods. Good quality blanks and components without unneeded overpriced materials. Any experienced fly angler will scoff at the need for hook keepers (pass line around the spool and hook to an eye) or alignment dots (line up by looking through the guides.)
Amazing combo! Well built and durable -

I love this set up! I put it thru the paces the first day I got it! Landed a couple good smallies with it. They put up a good fight and bent the rod pretty good. I didn't worry one bit because I knew the quality of the product and name I was using. I would recommend this product to anyone looking for a good set up. You can't beat the price or the warranty. I only dislike about the rod is that there is not a hook keeper like on lighter wt rods. I just hook my fly to the reel, which isn't a big deal. Overall I love the rod!
Clearwater 7-weight 9' fly rod -

Impressive fast delivery times, and put the rod into action immediately. Two 4lb jumping rainbows caught in quick succession. The rod performed well in casting an 8# intermediate line 35 yds. Two issues with this rod. Firstly there is no eye to place a fly into so you have to push it into the cork handle which is not satisfactory, and secondly there are no markers on the blank to line up the rod sections.

I have used this rod every day since I received it in the mail two and a half weeks ago, and it is great. I would only change two things about it at this point. I really wish there were dots/guide points on each of the sections to ensure it is lined up perfectly and the cork on the handle seems to be crumbling a few places. I hope this is covered under the warranty.
