Lethal on the water ... -
By: GuyWithAFly from Northern Arizona
This is my second Orvis rod. My first was a 6wt tip flex Access, which works well in a limited area of water in the Southwest. So when I was struggling with delicate presentation in small streams, a friend suggested a 3wt with more flex. So I got the outfit...and man, this is a sweet setup! I've hauled out a bunch of 20 inchers from the San Juan, landed some fighters from the Toulumne, and even found those elusive browns in Oak Creek Canyon. The fights are fun, the presentations of dry droppers, tandem nymph rigs and #22 dry flies are remarkable. Love this rod!
Fly touch down EXCELLENT -

Fished the Davidson and N. Mills in NC. Using the 3 wt. 8'4' Helios II makes casting a dream and lets you touch down your fly with accuracy and very little disturbance on touch down. Fighting even large trout it has a lot of backbone to get the job done. My choice for dry fly fishing above all others.

I don´t fish with 3 weight rods that much, but when I do,... this is my new choice! Love this rod, very smooth and still with a crisp fast recorver, it is possible to make super tight loops. Love it.

I typically love Orvis Products. Can't say I'm too thrilled with this one. Bought the 8'4" 3wt H2 and the first time on the water I set the hook with a quick flick of the wrist and it snapped in the middle of the third section. Used the rod for about 30 seconds and it broke. Good thing I brought my superfine as a backup rod or my trip would have been done quick. Have yet to use the rod since the repair, but hopefully its better. However, the customer service at Orvis is top notch. Called them up and the only thing I had to pay for was shipping to Vermont. They replaced the entire 3rd section and shipped it back to me in about a month. Look forward to catching many wild browns on it this summer.

I got this rod in November and fished it next day on one of my favorite wild creeks. It not only held up with heavy tandem nymph rigs, but delicately threw dry dropper rigs flawlessly. Thanks Orvis!
Best Orvis Rod, Ever -
By: MacTrout from Crested Butte, Colorado
I recently purchased an Orvis Helios 2, 8'4", 3 weight. I have a friend who had the original Helios and I wanted one for myself. I was pleasantly surprised to find the 2 was even a lighter, more sensitive and more responsive rod. I can really feel the line load on the back cast and can still send out a long delicate cast. I have caught everything from a few brookies to a few 18-20 inch bows. I am getting another Helios 2.

I've been fly fishing for over 30 years. purchaced my 1st Orvis (ClearWater 7-W) which I love 3 years ago. Last year upgraded to Access 5-W Tip-Flex; Fantastic Rod. This year test drove Hilios2-W 8'4" in the back of store. I cast the line 20 yds toward the sales man. hel held the line in his hand and asked me to pull and increase tension. H2 2W Rod broke @ the "O" OrvisLOGO. So I went on and purchaced the H2 3-W took it to the river next day beautiful day cought some nice small mouth bass. Within an Hr in my fishing the rod broke @ the handle during casting and I had to end my trip early. Went back to store and replaced it with Access. Hope the H3 is designed better.
