Everyone wants you to cast farther, to explore deeper, to reach out as far as possible. But there's something to be said about focusing on what's close. You laugh at the parking lot casters, the "I can throw a line with my 3-weight" braggadocio and lose count of how many fish you've caught within 10 feet of where you're standing. You cherish these short casts, these communal presentations, andwhat do you know?so does the 5-weight, 7'9" Helios 2. You're both designed to fish, which means you're perfect for each other. Proudly made in Manchester, Vermont.
Why would we take the world's best fly rod and change it? The answer is simple. We're driven by constant improvement. Put this rod in your hands and feel the rush. You'll completely understand.

I love this rod, it's perfection. Light, strong, sexy yet classy, precise. I've been fishing it for years and every time I set it up it's like Christmas and that never gets old. The only other objects I love that much are my truck, camera, and garage. Thanks Orvis!

If the rod is too long or short, too stiff or soft, there is always a missing quality. BUT this rod has all capabilities of long rods and short rods, from stiff and from soft. How Orvis did this!?? One of those rods that makes me wanna go fishing just to have the pleasure of using it. Can´t wait to go back to the streams.

I decided on this rod to help me pick apart the small Wisconsin spring creeks found throughout the state, and to help out with Panfish duties. I wanted something that I could easily cast streamers, nymph rigs, dry droppers, terrestrials, poppers, and of course dries. The thing I found most remarkable about this rod is that it almost "adapts" in a chameleon like way to whatever style of fishing is at hand. It's soft and gentle, yet powerful and assertive when you need it. However, the thing that never waivers is the absolute bulls eye accuracy. This is the closest rod I've ever found to being "all conditions, all around". Truly a home run.
