    Great Pliers, But... - 10/30/2015

I ordered the freshwater pair because I wanted the needle-nose type. They are very lightweight and spring-loaded (not mentioned in description). I have large hands and wish they were the same size as the larger saltwater pair. My gripe is the sheath is almost useless: it should have a velcro loop or metal clip. Instead, it is a small sewn loop which requires you to wear a belt AND remove the belt to wear it - two times for every use. Lots of fishing pants and waders have built-in belts that are not removable. I suspect I will just clip the lanyard to something secure and keep the pliers in a pocket...

Over the top Quality - 7/25/2015

I purchased the freshwater model, the quality is unbelievable. These pliers will last a lifetime. Orvis was awesome to deal with, as always.

    Great product! - 6/19/2015

I recently purchased the freshwater version. Only been on the river's once with them. They fit nicely into my forceps pocket on my Ovis sling pack. Very light weight, fits nicely in my hands. Had a Brown Trout engulf a streamer and was easily able to pull the hook with no damage to the fish. On the expensive side but considering how much you use these on an outing and the lifetime of the pliers worth spending the money rather than replacing old ones often.

    Great Pliers - 2/5/2015

I purchased the saltwater pliers and they are great! They are light, easy to handle and fit my hand well. The only negative is the size of the belt loop in back, it needs to be bigger. Except for that they work very well.

Pricey but worth it - 11/22/2014

I have owned these pliers for 6 months. They are really useless pliers, i.e. they cut well and pop hooks well. They are heavy, which attests to their quality. The sheath is nice but he loop on the back would be better if it were larger. I popped many hooks that were swallowed deep in the fish with ease, saving both the fly as well as the fish. Appear to be completely rust proof. Although pricey, could very easily last a lifetime.

Top of the Line - 10/20/2014

Ok to be honest if you are looking for the top of the line pliers you can not go wrong with this set. They come with so many more extras than other companies it was hard not to go with Orvis. The sheath, the extra parts (because in the field things break), and the security cord make this an awesome set of pliers. I do wish Orvis would make these a 1/2 inch longer/bigger. But again these pliers aren't for everyone- if you want to pass these down to your kids then this is the pair for you.

    Good Pliers BUT.... - 8/5/2014
    By: from Washington

Out of the box the pliers were everything I was looking for; light weight, came with a lanyard and belt sheath and if I was only rating the pliers it would be 5 stars. However, the first thing I found out was that the belt loop on the sheath was too small to allow my wading belt through. The buckles on the belt are sewn in so I couldn't take the belt apart. It is an easy thing to fix, buy a new belt, the thing is I shouldn't have to. Before I would recommend this to a friend I would caution them about the belt loop.
