I like using this instead of lead as it is better for the environment and better for me when tying. The only down side I see is it seems lighter than lead but I can't be sure of that. Lighter or not all should be switching due to environmental concerns.

    Good quality wire - 6/3/2015

I wish that the wire could come flattened out to make it easier for forming fly bodies. I found that if you take a large size socket from a socket wrench, you can roll or press down the wire to make it flat. It still works great and really helps out in tapering the bodies.

Very Happy with the Product - 3/5/2015

The non toxic wire is very malleable and easy to work with. It is a little lighter than the lead wire. However, it still adds sufficient weight to the fly.

    I like that it's non-toxic - 2/27/2015

Since I lose a lot of nymphs, I don't want to leave lead in the river. This is a good alternative. Used with a tungsten bead, it's great option. The real test will be tying a pickle with it (Pat's Rubber Legs).

I alwatys used real lead wire but decided to give this a try. Lighter than lead wire but I just went up one size to compensate and it works fine. Good alternative to lead and nontoxic to the environment.

Standard wire for nymphs that are a bit heavier in the 10-14 size range. Help the eagles and osprey by buying lead-free wrap... We owe it to our kids and grand children!

I prefer the properties of lead. However, I feel better using a material that will not jeopardize the quality of my favorite streams. This material wraps a lot like lead but its density does not.

Really don't understand why a fish enthusiast would use any thing else. Purchased two sizes of wire and have found the actually more pleasant to use than lead which gets nasty after a while.

Just starting to fly tie and purchased this for the nympths I wish to tie and have done several and the quality is good and easy to work with. Price is right as well and have ordered more in different colors. Thanks Orvis for starting me out in the beginning.

If you want to get your fly down deep, this is the way to go. Whether or not lead or lead-free makes a difference is a debate that is not for here. But nonetheless it still works.
