Great Patch Madras Shirt -
By: Trav47 from Denver, CO
Love the shirt. Had one back in the 70's that was fun to wear. It's baaack! Shirts are not ordinarily fun to wear. This one is. You will get a lot of positive comments and inquiries where you got it. You may find yourself saying "Far out man!". There are worse things. John Denver lives.
Pricey, but good -
Good comfortable shirt which my wife likes. Buttonholes could be better finished
Too Heavy for Summer -
By: Mike4545 from Indianapolis, IN
I like the look of this shirt and it is well made. However, it is very heavy for a short sleeved shirt. It leaves me wondering where I will be able to wear it! Orvis should not call this a summer shirt. I look forward to the few autumn days that are cool enough to wear a heavy, short sleeved shirt.

This is a shirt that never fails to attract comments - and all of them favourable! It has a wonderfully unique and individual and rather zany quality. It is impossible that there is another identical one in the universe! I cannot tell you how many times I have been asked "Where did you get it?" It is attractive, distinctive with a lovely combination of muted colours
Cool and Colorful -
By: Sarge2 from South Carolina
Want real Madras? Here it is. I love the draping feel of it, all these beuatiful little patches sewn together for a solid material feel. The colors pop. My friends asked me where I got it. I said "Hey, Iit's Orvis. Good Stuff." Everyon who sees it agrees. Would love to see a blue-green based pattern THAT would be cool too, and I would buy it.
Comfortable shirt -
Very satisfied with the quality and the prompt service
Nice looking but with major problems -
By: Wildflowerlady from Wisconsin
I ordered this shirt for my husband. It arrived tossed in a bag and very wrinkled. My attempts at ironing out at least some of the wrinkles were frustrating. I know madras has a wrinkly look, but this is just plain messy. I would recommend dry cleaning for an acceptable look. I found the construction to be substandard, particularly the poorly finished, uneven seams. Finally, the shirt is very heavy, probably due to the many seams necessary to create patchwork. But this is a short-sleeved shirt, presumably meant to be worn in warm weather, and it's too heavy to be comfortable in the summer.

The Madras shirt is of excellent quality. It is very rich in earth tone colors. The 100% cotton is close knit and heavy weight (good for spring, summer or early fall. Fits well. Exceeded my expectations.
The Real Madras Deal -
By: AliceMcG from Connecticut
This shirt is the real deal when it comes to madras the way it used to be made: pieced together in squares. Not as lightweight as I would have wanted for summer, but well made and comfy. Photo on website made it look like it had more green tones which is what I was going for as a present for my husband. Turned out to be mostly taupe and Browns which is ok.
