Good looking addition -
Very good looking rod. Classic but innovative as you would expect from Orvis. Excellent action and does what it says on the tin when using a shooting head setup. Very happy with it when along side rods which cost considerably more...

I got this to replace a 3 piece Kola B&W and was a bit nervous it wouldn't cut it but I wanted a matt rod. I had held off a review until I had caught a fish. I use it with an older WF10 sink tip Silver Label line and it casts it full length plus a bit (30 yard line) and is accurate. Overhead and spey casts fine. Only down side is the lower cork handle might require filling after another season.
The Shooting star is a very nice rod -

After my power matrix 15 footer got smashed. Orvis replaced it with the fifteen foot Shooting star. I had been a ghillie on the north west of Scotland for 10yrs and my power matrix played, lost and landed a lot of fish, and it is amazing how you get used to a rod. i dont ghillie anymore so I only get the odd couple of days a season to fish due to business, I took a couple of day's on the river Nairn last July first time out with the new Shooting Star not knowing how it would perform I was a little hesitant, but after the first cast I new I was on to a winner, it performed fantastically, it put the fly where I wanted it, first day and I hooked and landed a very nice 12lb salmon the rod is a pleasure to use light, strong and it won't give you sore back or shoulder's, can't wait for my couple of day's this year. I think it's that good i am looking at the 13 footer for the smaller Scottish rivers. All I can say is well done Orvis.
