Superb Small Stream Fly Rod... -
By: UplandGuide from Northeast Tennessee
I have both the Superfine Carbon and the Glass. Both rods give me the small stream experience I want and need. They cast beautifully and even short roll casts are not a problem. Excellent form, fit and function. My clients love these rods and several have purchased their own. Congrats to Orvis!
Great Blue Line Trout Rod -
By: turkyhorst from Stony Creek PA
Great little rod to pack into those distant blue line wild trout streams. Glass is a nice steady slow action which I have missed in recent carbon years. Really enjoy casting and the good thump of a wild trout. Highly recommend for those blue line trout bums like me.
Nice Rod But Not For Me -

I give this rod five stars for quality of workmanship. Now having said that, I returned my recent purchase. I've always fished tip and mid flex fly rods. I found the full flex of this rod to "whippy" for my liking. Again, nothing wrong with the rod; I just prefer a stiffer cast.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this rod to anyone looking for a small stream rod. Great feel and timing, it allows to to actually "place" a fly on the water after about 30 mins of practice to learn the rod. Keep your leaders somewhat short and this rod will reward you with an unbelievable presentation. After a few days of fishing this rod I went home and ordered the 5 wt version. Well done Orvis

I've been using this rod for a few months now on everything from fat farm pond bluegills to native brookies and it has far exceeded my expectations. The Superfine glass is an utter joy to fish. Dropping a dry fly on target with stunning accuracy and the softest presentation is what the superfine is all about. But I find it easily handles small nymph rigs and panfish poppers as well. I find myself daydreaming where this rod will take me next!
Well worth the money -

This rod is an excellent rod for small streams, still water with chironomids, very small streamers. Little 5-7 inch brook trout put a good bend in the rod. I was fishing a little stream a couple of days ago and it layed down dry flies like a dream, did not spook the salters (sea run brook trout) that were in there. I'm going to try it out for some striped bass ( yes I know it might seem a little crazy going after striped bass with a 3 wt). It casted quite well with a #6 clouser, but I'm not going to win any awards for distance. Overall this is a great rod, I would recommend this to anyone. Well worth the money.
Amazing Rod -

The action on the 703 Superfine Glass is awesome....can't believe I went this long without fishing glass. This rod is perfect for the small streams of Northern New Mexico.
nice small-water rod -
By: Tyrone from Central PA
This rod provided a softer, full-flex performance and a shorter length that was effective and fun in smaller water situations. I like it. It gave good control and allowed accurate casts. I was also surprised that it handled larger fish (17" trout) just fine. Only downside I noted which was pretty minor was that I had to pay attention to thoroughly tighten the nut that holds the reel or it would come loose while I was fishing.
Favorite fly rod -

My wife got me the superfine glass rod in three weight for christmas. We went to the San Juan in January and i landed two 18" rainbows on this rod. That was unbelievable fun. This is now my favorite rod to cast. I did have to slow my rythm down, but it is very accurate & easy to cast. No regrets on this one.

This is one of the lightest and cast friendly 3 wt rods I've ever used. It is just the right length for small streams. Would highly recommend for anyone interested in a glass rod.
