Wear in all temperatures -

Lovely pattern though much thinner material than anticipated. However, it can be worn as a jacket over a jumper in cool weather, but on its own in hot weather. Wonderful cover-up over big tums!

I love this tunic. The fabric is light and fresh, the hand blocked pattern is just my style. I bought it in the sale, - I do think the full price is a bit strong.

This is such a pretty tunic and looks great on its own over trousers or with a t shirt underneath. Very pretty and unusual print and the fabric is very light and comfortable that I almost forget I am wearing it! Very pleased with this purchase.
Beautiful textile design -

The fabric is beautiful and the garment is precisely made. The fit for me is long; I usually wear petite sizes. I may make some alterations so that it is more fitted and better proportioned for me, but I am not disappointed as the tunic is as described and the details are beautiful. Haven't washed it yet; don't expect any problems.
Nice tunic -

I love tunics, need the length and coverage as an older lady. Sleeves were just a little long on me. Love the lawn fabric - light, cool, pretty, didn't shrink much if any, didn't need ironing. Wish I could find more like this.
|India Hand Block-Print Fabric|
The ancient art of hand block-printing
In the desert regions of Jaipur, artisans craft each one of our block-printed jackets by hand using centuries-old techniques that have been passed down for generations.
The Skill and Precision of Hand Block-Print
The process begins with the hand carving of a pattern’s design into wooden blocks. This laborious process must be repeated more often than one might imagine. Each block is used a mere 300 times before the precise lines become blurred. The old block is then discarded and a new block is carved. With the elaborate, delicate designs Orvis commissions for our jackets, the carvers are kept busy year-round.
Fabric is printed by hand using the same skill and precision. With a steady hand and even steadier patience, artists dip the block in dye and then apply the design to the fabric, taking care each time to line the patterns up. This is a skill few can master and the printers who excel in this talent are highly valued. The dyes are also made by hand, the dyers’ art being in the imaginative blends of earthen, vegetable and mineral contents they concoct to create the vivid reds, blues, greens, and yellows that are used for our fabrics.
