    Mechanic's Sweater - 3/12/2014
    By: from Ottawa, Ontario, Canada

Warm, confortable, very sturdy. Had bought one for my husband 5 years ago and am now buying one for my son. Serves more as a jacket than a sweater.

Warmest Sweater Ever Bought - 3/1/2014
    By: from Jefferson, MA

I purchased this beautifully crafted sweater for my Father 's 90th birthday. He was thrilled that it was modeled after WW2 mechanic garb, as he also proudly served in that war. Besides that fact, he has never been warmer! I appreciate the high quality of Orvis products and I'm glad I could find something that fits perfectly (size small is not always available) to make my Dad look extra dapper as he turned 90!

    Recommend with reservations - 2/17/2014

As other reviewers have noted, this is a burly sweater that is really warm. It also gets high marks for looks, materials and craftsmanship. There is one design flaw apparently common to Orvis in that the pocket sits with the bottom edge exactly horizontal. With the slick lining material, this means whatever you put in there (keys, lighter, etc.) will immediately re-appear. They function okay as hand warmers, but I suggest you consider how important it is to you to have pockets that reliably hold "stuff".

    Mechanic"s Foul Weather Sweater - 2/10/2014
    By: from Bellevue, WA

This sweater is extremely warm...much warmer than I expected. The first time I wore it, I was pleased to discover that I needed no coat on top on it to stay warm and comfortable. Very stylish with the faux leather elbow and shoulder patches. The faux leather means I can wash or dry clean this sweater without worry about ruining the leather...very practical. Most cotton sweaters tend to bag out at the waist after a day's wear, and only come back to their original shape after washing, which is why I tend to prefer wool or synthetics to c ootton. This one however, maintains it's shape very well. I got it in the Stone color, and it is my favorite sweater, as well as my warmest one. An excellent choice.

    Excellent Product - 2/7/2014
    By: from Columbus, OH

I bought one of these cardigans for my husband for Christmas. He wouldn't quit going on about how much he liked it which is not common for him. He said it might be the very best gift I've given him over nearly 20 years of marriage. So, I got him another one in a different color. Warm, Stylish, and it makes him look slimmer!

    Substantial Outdoor Sweater - 1/31/2014
    By: from New London, NH

I love mechanic sweaters, and the various blue collar sweaters that Orvis manufactures. And this is another very well done product! A very massive and pleasantly bulky sweater that will duly keep you warm, around town, to football games, or even at home, when cold. With this product they have some interesting color combinations, the pockets are nice, and the sleeves are lined, providing for easy pulling on/taking off. On the down side, I do have just one complaint. On a sweater of this size, the cuffs, and waist band, should have been slightly more substantial, so as to balance, and properly carry, the weight of this fine sweater. (...) But everything else is superb: the zipper works great, and the sweater really does feel very comfortable. Finally, after reading other reviews, this is not at all over-priced.

    sweater review - 1/27/2014
    By: from Balto MD

Love the sweater, very warm, looks good. Perfect for cold winter day. BUT, the sweater is so heavy the bottom portion of the zipper doesn't stay attached. I had the same problem with the Mechanics vest I purchased earlier. The sweater is being repaired/reinforced by my dry cleaner. I can't sew.

For a long time I've been looking for something to replace a big, heavy leather coat. I have found it and I'm very happy. Plus it's very stylish. Thanks!
