Hidden away in small streams and highland lakes from the Rockies to the Smokies, large trout make their way undisturbed and undiscovered. For adventurous anglers, the pursuit of those fish is what drives them, and the Superfine Touch 663-4 is the ultimate rod for those backcountry trekkers. With its ultralight weight and compact size, this rod will go anywhere, and its slow, soft action combines with the added strength of its 3-weight build for those unexpected moments when a 20-inch fish materializes in a stream no wider than the rod in your hand. Made in Manchester, Vermont.

Great rod at an incredible sale price. Used it last weekend on the Gunpowder River in MD and had a great day of fishing with a rod that was a pleasure to use. Light weight, sensitive action and being a shorter rod made the day a pleasure. Highly recommend the superfine touch 3 weight!

I am new to fly fishing and I have a lot to learn, but even I look good with the Superfine Touch 3-weight 6'6" rod. I have used it on some lakes in Florida but I really purchased for small stream trout fishing in New Jersey. I can't wait! This rod is a beautiful piece of art that casts like a dream. I am so impressed with the quality I think Orvis is my go to place for all my fly fishing needs. Thanks Orvis!!

I just purchased and used this great rod. I set it up with a BBS I reel and 3wt Hydros Superfine line. I love this setup! I fish the small streams of southeastern PA and this is the right rod for the job. I made precise casts in difficult places and also let it out in the middle of the stream. I was vey happy with it's performance. So will you!
Excellent smal stream rod -
I finally fished this rod for the first time over the weekend on the small streams of western Connecticut. Everything from precise bow & arrow casts at 12-15 feet, delicate dry fly placement at 30 feet, even some indicator nymphing with a size 14 beadhead, this rod performed superbly. I've tested several 663 models from various companies and the Superfine Touch is areal gem in this class.
Great rod -
This rod is exactly the right length, weight, flex, and feel for fishing small streams and creeks in the Rockies, as I do regularly. Great for short, touch casting, and very accurate if handled correctly.

The Superfine line of rods is flat-out sexy. Borrowing a lot of technology from the legendary Helios rod lineup, this rod is surgical on waters that require precise dry fly presentations in tight quarters. You typically sacrifice accuracy and precision for feel with full flex rods, but this is not at all the case with this rod. It is as precise at 50 feet as it is 10 feet and you have all the added benefits of feel that a full flex rod offers. Those wild 6-12 inch fish feel like Steelhead on the end of this rod, but it controls the fish like a champ -- unlike some of the other full flex rods I have used in the past. I love the traditional look of the rod, and with the legendary CFO reel, it is truly has the feel and look of a traditional trout setup but with the benefits of modern technology.
Small Stream Versatility -

I purchased the 3wt. 6'6" superfine touch to replace another 3wt. that I had semi-permanently borrowed from my daughter. I set it up with a BBS 1 and 3wt. superfine line. Not only was this rod a great replacement, it is capable of far more than I expected. Like the catalog says it is great at short ranges. It allows accurate fly placement, careful mending and any tricky layout you want to attempt. Additionally, its soft action lets me set the hook on 6" fish without yanking them out of the water and makes them feel much bigger. Yet it still handles larger 12-14" fish with ease and control. The real surprise is how it handles distance casts. The old rod could reach 35-40' Anything more required perfect timing and was chancy at best. I am not a great caster, but the Superfine will easily launch out 50-60' even when waist deep in the stream. This power reserve also stands up to windy days, something I did not feel the superfine 2wt. could handle. My only complaint is the rod I ordered online arrived with quite at few small surface bubbles and wrapping blemishes, nothing that would affect fishability or durability. My local store exchanged it for a much cleaner example, no questions asked.
