When an 18-inch brown is sipping caddisflies just a rod's length away, the last thing you want is to slap your line on the water, sending the trout upstream and your confidence in the tank. With a forgiving stroke and Full-Flex action, the Superfine Touch 704-4 was made to place those tiny flies and light tippets in front of feeding fish with a touch of grace. Perfect for dry flies, medium-sized streams, and any trout you can find, it performs remarkably well on spring creeks and your secret mountain stream, where the possibility of a monster keeps you going back again and again. Made in Manchester, Vermont.

sweet rod -

Very light, but agile. I can cast small flies with this rod better than I ever thought I would be able to. And accurate - the fly went where i was looking, and I've always had trouble doing that. Great for smaller flies.
Small stream perfection -

How do we define perfection in a small stream rod? For me, it is when the rod disappears and the cast feels like a natural extension of one's intentions. The current generation of Orvis Superfine rods do this remarkably well. If you fish small to moderate size waters, you owe it to yourself to try to a Superfine Touch.
One fine rod -

This is one of the best dry fly rods I have ever fished. This rod has great feel and loads well on short as well as long casts.I fish small streams and small tail waters. This has become my go to rod for most all of my fishing. I fish 3 and 4 wt's only and this rod is so light in hand it may be the only rod I fish.
Amazing rod -

I actually have the previous model of this rod, 150 anniversary trout bum with the exact dimensions and specs. I have already enjoyed this rod immensely on the small North Carolina streams that I got it for. But this past weekend I had a first ever chance to try it on the Little Red River in Heber Springs, AR. The smallest rainbow was 10", most were about 12", and two were 14" and heavy. These were all the largest trout I have ever caught. And this tiny delicate rod took it without breaking a sweat. Also noteworthy for anyone who will be fishing this area, check out Ozark Angler (an Orvis Dealer). Both locations ; Little Rock (where i was staying) and Heber Springs went completely above and beyond to make sure I was equipped and prepared to find and catch big fish. Thank you to both Orvis and Ozark Anger for helping me to have an experience of a lifetime.
my go to rod -

I spend a lot of time (90% of my fishing days) on small creeks in the Rocky Mountains where things can get a bit tight. I love this rod! I am a sucker for full flex rods but I really fell in love with this rod when I felt how much backbone it has. I paired mine with a CFO II and the Gen 3 Superfine line and it is a true dream to cast even with some wind. Its not that common to get on real big fish where I spend most of my time but I have landed a few 18"-20" fish on this rod and it handled them great. The little guys are a ton of fun on this rod as well! If you are reading this review, do yourself a favor and buy this rod, you will not regret it. Did I mention this rod is made in the USA!!!!! Thanks goes to Kerry at Cherry Creek for letting me spend some time with this rod in the alley before I bought it.
