I just recieved these and have worn one time. The fit was as described (1/2 size - order 1 1/2 up). Very good foot and ankle support. No break-in needed. As good as felt. My previous pair of wading boots were Korkers and they lasted through 6 seasons of heavy use and are still serviceable but I had been looking for a new pair. Was glad to see Orvis and Korkers come togehter on this boot as I like the Korkers style of changeable sole but don't like Korkers new lacing system on their boots. The sale price at $129 was a great buy! I ordered the felt soles also. I am pleased so far.,I have always relied on boot foot waders for years, but around 4 years ago I got my first neoprene and then breathable stocking foot waders. I was dissapointed as I could not find boots to fit my rather wide feet. I suffered in silence, my fishing becoming uncomfortable after a couple of hours. However, I foound the Riverguards in the local Orvis store, tried them on and decided to buy them. Well, what a transformation. I can now walk to my favouritse spots without feeling as if my feet were bound in bandages. I can spend a whole day on mt feet with little to worry about. I love them!. The grip offered by the ecotrax/studded sole is second to none. My only slight concern is that the Orvis website now lists these soles as unavailable. Not much use if I wear through the sole.,As noted in the sale ad, the boot is sized incorrectly. I had to order up 1.5 sizes to get a reasonable fit. The boot is well-constructed. It was disappointing that Orvis did not have available the other sole options, but I did manage to find studded felt soles online. At the sale price, I would recommend this boot.,Saw these on sale and was able to seek quick and helpful guidance from a customer representative (product info. and sizing help). Saw the other reviews and decided to take the plunge. Shipped quickly to me despite the hurricane/tropical storm. Wore them while fishing the Savage River in Western MD. A stream known for slippery conditions. I forgot my wading staff, but the boots performed wonderfully - eco-trax with the studded cleats kept me from bruising my behind several times! Other notes: super easy to clean after I was done (stop the spread of didymo). Lacing system is great. Comfortable. Top quality product and is in compliance with MD's ban of felt-boots.,I love these boots. I just returned from a three day flyfishing trip to the Arkansas River in Beuna Vista Colorado. I am a very aggressive flyfisher ,fishing long stretches of river and demand boots that can take serious punishment. Every boot that I have purchased in the past have shown immediate wear and tear on my first outing. These boots are the first wading boots I have purchased that when first fished, showed virtually no damage or cuts from my agressive wading tactics. Also,I am very impressed with the comfort of the boot from the moment I stepped into the river. Do yourself a favor and get these boots. I would recommend these boots to a pro guide, they are that good.
