    Modest Skirt! - 7/9/2013
    By: from Warrenton, VA

I couldn't believe it when I found the skirts listed on this website. It's the first time I've even heard of Orvis, and when I saw the skirt I immediately bought one even though it was a little pricey. The material is very high quality and made to withstand the elements and hard wear, and is the perfect length and size for me (I'm a 4P!). Thank you so much for having modest clothing!

    Favorite denim skirt - 7/8/2013

This is my favorite skirt. Since it is an A-line skirt, your waist can be much smaller than your hips, and it still looks slimming. I have it in both the light and dark denim. The weight is just right - not too heavy or too light.

    Comfy Classic - 7/7/2013
    By: from Norwich UK

Having already had two of these lovely skirts in the past they have washed and worn so well. I was a little bit disappointed as this time the fabric is a lighter weight denim and the central v panel is shallow, apart from that the style is great and fits well. Have had lots of compliments. I would recommend.

    Seams - 6/30/2013
    By: from Cambridge

The finish on the seams is not good. It is unessesary to turn the fabric over as it has already been finished by overlocking; by doing this makes them bulky.and the skirt sticks out and the seams do not lie flat.

Good all purpose skirt. - 6/17/2013

This is a great all round skirt. It looks good for the office as well as casual wear. I have not washed it yet, but I expect it to do well. I am a short, older woman - and it is flattering.

    great quality skirt - 6/17/2013

I appreciate Orvis buyers selecting skirts with a flat front and an A-line drape. It is a flattering fit for anyone. The material washes well and is of great quality. I do hope Orvis will continue carrying this type of skirt.

Petite Version Too Small in Waist - 6/17/2013
    By: from NC

The skirt was very nice, but the waistband was a couple of inches too short. I have several Orvis skirts in size regular 16 that fit just fine, but I ordered this one in petite 16. The clerk told me that the petite versions typically run smaller. I tried to reorder in a size 18 regular, but that was not available. I will re-order when this skirt becomes available in my size.

    Great skirt - 6/10/2013

This skirt is wonderful. Dressy looking for denim and very comfortable. I had ordered another because I liked the one I had so much. I wear it often all year round, with sandals in the summer and tights in the winter

Vintage Denim

The practical fashion of Vintage Denim

Vintage Denim from OrvisThere are few fabrics that can boast the tradition and colorful history that denim claims. From gold miner’s staple to the darling of high fashion, this down-to-earth indigo twill has worked its way into our hearts and into our closets. Orvis Vintage Denim, a traditional mid-weight denim, is made of pure cotton, woven right here in the U.S.A.

The rugged outdoor fabric of choice for centuries

No other fabric is as quintessentially American as denim is; it first arrived on our shores in 1492. Used for the sails on Christopher Columbus’s ships, the rugged textile had already been known in Europe for centuries. Denim, whose name derives from the original serge de Nîmes, had been manufactured in France since 300 A.D. It was the outdoor fabric of choice for workers and farmers throughout Northern Europe.

Orvis Vintage Denim: the toughness of original denim, but prewashed for softness

This sturdy cotton fabric derives its toughness from the weave — twill is the strongest of all of the fabric weaves, with threads woven in a tight diagonal pattern for increased strength. This diagonal pattern, or twill line, makes the fabric very durable and prevents it from tearing or ripping easily. The steeper the twill line, the higher quality the fabric; this is because the steeper weaves have more yarns per inch. Our Vintage Denim is woven in this strong pattern, but is prewashed for softness and will only get better with age.

Great for travel

Orvis Vintage Denim have belt loops and handy side pockets. They are ideal for travel. Like your favorite pair of jeans, these easy-care skirts and pants resist wrinkles and the mid-weight fabric is suitable for year-round wear.

Once you try Orvis Vintage Denim, chances are you’ll want another, which is why we offer them in a range of wardrobe-expanding neutral colors.
