Rated 5 out of 5 by from Extremely Satisfied I purchaed this pack to use in my raft during float trips and to also use while travelling. Before this purchase I used a regular pack and a dry bag together. This pack is the size to accommodate my needs and is now more functional for my needs. Very pleazed withe the quality and service.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does the job. I have NOT used the backpack in a real outdoor fishing trip, but I have loaded it up with fly rod case, waders, wading boots, lunch bag, and misc. fly boxes and tackle, and walked around my yard. It works great and does as advertised. My only suggestion would be that one of the two fly rod case holders was modified to handle the "older" two piece rod case that are longer than the "newer" four piece rods.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from LOVE IT This pack works exactly as advertised. Perfect for longer days hiking in to fish or as a boat bag when floating. Keeps plenty of extra clothing, food, fly boxes etc. as well as the ability to carry 2 rod tubes on the sides. As Orvis say, it wont stand up to a full blown submersion, but a quick dunk, rain, wading, laying it on a wet bank while I fish, this pack is awesome. It comes with me on every trip.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Overly Satisfied I was stationed as a guide on the remote Togiak River in Alaska from June 15' until September 15'. I carried my Gale Force pack every where I went, from hikes up small streams to long rainy river runs. I kept all my important paper work, camera equipment, fly fishing equipment, dry clothes ect. It was the perfect size, and kept everything 100% dry. This is the 1st product I have ever been overly satisfied with. It has seen the toughest conditions, it's been dunked repeatedly, and I still use it everyday as a guide in Louisiana. I highly recomend this pack!!!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great piece of kit Back in the autumn I wish that I had owned this bag I was fishing in the Dolomites and was hiking along mountain streams. I have since bought and used it in the West of Scotland where it rains a great deal. The bag was extremely comfortable to wear and the internal compartments were ideal for my needs . It contained clothing, food, camera and fishing tackle with ease. The outside rod holders also enabled me to carry a spare rod. It was without a doubt waterproof and I have no doubt that when I fall in it will keep me afloat . I use it in conjunction with a Gale Force chest pack which I would recommend to keep my flies, leader material and other accessories to hand. It fits easily onto the front straps of the backpack. Great piece of kit !!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Comfortable Pack Just used this on a 10 day trip in Alaska. Very comfortable and one can easily cast for hours with it on. Interior is very simple and probably best kept that way. For once it hardly ever rained, and I didn't fall in, so can't comment on the waterproofing yet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Alaska Gale Force Backpack review I am a hardcore walk and wade in remote area fly fisherman. I completed my second remote Alaska trip recently this season and found the Gale Force Backpack to be more comfortable by far than previous advertised fly fishing backpack I have used on long treks to and from remote streams after being left off by float plane. Also when walk and wade up and back remote streams I need to have weather proof backpack with compartments that are secure , do not shift around and help keep my items dry when I reach in bag. This Gale Force did meet my expectations and my need for better compartment arrangement in tough rainy weather which can can happen a lot in Alaska.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Can't go wrong with this pack! I finally retired my old standard day pack and purchased this one for my June trip to Alaska. After a week with it in the field I found that my initial concerns about it possibly being too small, having zipper operation problems or difficulty carrying rods were all unwarranted. This is a very well designed and made backpack. It was a pleasure having it on. You can't go wrong purchasing this one. Enjoy!
