This combo order was a gift to a friend. I had it mailed to him and I have never seen the rod, reel,or line. He seemed to like everything and was already casting in his yard.

I hate fast action rods, this rod can throw drys, nymphs and streamers with ease and doesn't feel like a broom stick doing it, when playing fish it flexes smoothly from tip to butt like a fly rod should, good job Orvis.

I'd been thinking of a 10' for some time. And this rod is exactly what I'd hoped it would be. The extra length is perfect for the fishing I like to do. Love the feel and the light weight, and it casts beautifully. Couldn't ask for more. Color me very satisfied.
Another fine one -

This Clearwater 10' 5wt is my fourth Orvis rod...that should tell you something. Bought this rod to get more "reach" casting and better drag control on the stream, couldn't help myself, but had it out in the yard with the snow and all. And boy can she cast. Checked workmanship(finish, wraps, cork grip, etc.) closely, and found it excellent. This is one very nice rod, folks.

We do a lot of lake fishing in these parts so I bought the 10' Clearwater to give me an advantage in the wind and it performs beautifully! Picking the line up off the water is effortless and the rod loads so easily! I love the action on this rod; not too fast so you really feel in touch with the line. I feel like I'm casting more accurately and getting greater distance, even in strong wind. This rod feels like it should cost a whole lot more than it actually does and I would recommend it to anyone. Oh and the service from Orvis was great! It only took a week and a half from ordering to get the rod all the way to Southern Australia!

I have always been an Orvis fan and decided to buy my wife this rod for Christmas. The rod arrived and I had to check it out. The rod cst very well (it felt like one of my expensive rods), the quality and finish were exceptional and it balanced very well with my reel. This rod will end up being her favorite rod for chironomid fishing with indicators and long leaders. It cast effortlessly for me and I know it will help her take her casting up another notch! Now maybe a matching Orvis large arbor?!
