"I have owned this vest for well over 10 years. I have been guiding upland birds in Montana for over 20 years and have worn this vest guiding an average of 55 days a year. Covering an average 6 to 10 miles per day while going through our coulees that consist of wild plum, chokecherries, rose hemp and snowberries and not one time over the years did the vest tear from these thorny bushes... I did finally wear holes in the pockets from carrying extra leads and shells. I found that a size larger than you usually wear is great for packing a lot of birds long distances when guiding. And when I got a chance to hunt on my own, it did not hamper the shouldering of the gun. The game bag with the front and back loading makes for easy access, and has held up over all the years. It's hard to retire–"

Sizing Information for Orvis Men's Clothing

Orvis clothes are cut generously to accommodate an active country lifestyle. In addition, we build plenty of “wearing ease” into all our garments to ensure you will enjoy them for many years. We field-test all of them on Orvis associates, and we take into consideration how the clothing will be worn. For example, when we fit outerwear, we always size it with the appropriate layers beneath. That means you do not need to order a size up for a comfortable fit.

Not sure what size to order? Just chat, e-mail, or call 0844 557 4188 to reach our Customer Service experts. They will be happy to give you the actual garment measurements for any item we sell.

How to Measure

Men's Sizing InformationIn all instances, hold tape firm and level, but not tight.
a. Head: Using a flexible/soft tape measure, start 1" above the ear. Follow around head staying 1" above the ear. This will give your most accurate reading. Then refer to the chart for size.
b. Neck Circumference: Wrap tape around to the base of your front neck and allow room for wearing comfort; OR measure the collar length of a favourite shirt.
c. *Sleeve Length: From the centre back (CB) of your neck with your arm slightly bent, follow the tape around to your wrist bone.
d. Chest: Wrap a tape measure evenly around the fullest part under your arms.
e. Waist: Wrap a tape around your natural waistline, or where you actually wear your trousers.
f. Seat/Hip: Standing with your feet together, measure around the fullest part of your hip (approx. 7-8" below the waist). Don’t forget to keep the tape level.
g. Inseam: Best taken from an existing pair of trousers you like. Measure along the garment inseam from the crotch seam to the hem.
h. Glove Hand: Measure all the way around the flat part of your hand, excluding the thumb, and around the widest part at the knuckles. Refer to sizing on product page to convert this measurement in inches to your corresponding glove size.
