I have anumber of these shirts. They are warm, light weight and dressy enough for many days. I am delighted with the new ones as well as my old standfbys. they wear well as some are now over 5 years old and still in good shape. They wash well press easily and are a great shirt.
Cotton Merino Shirt -
Wonderful luxurious fabric! Great color saturation in the plaid. The shirt looks good with sweaters or a sports coat. Washes easily. I did a little touch up ironing. I've bought three of these shirts for my boyfriend...so far.
OK, but not great -

Shirt fabric and design were very good, but the buttons were not properly sewn and thread is unraveling after only 2 wearings. Nor up to the usual Orvis standard.
Great shirt;ludicrous service -

I have several of these shirts and find them warm and sturdy. Orvis service is another matter. However, Orvis cannot keep anything straight: 1) Orvis named two different designs "navy". 2) They sent me one I already own ( the other "navy" one) from a store in Maine .3) When I pointed this out, I was told the correct one was out of stock in my size. 4) I then saw the correct shirt in my size in a store on a trip to NYC. 5) The shirt they have I am asked to comment on is not one I own! What a fiasco!!
If only it were not wool -

Great shirt for those that can wear wool. Can't wear wool? Walk away now. There are those that can wear wool and those that cannot. I am of the latter group. I can however wear Merino wool -- which is why I purchased the shirt. Perhaps the cotton blend messed it up for me or the Merlino wool is of a different quality, I do not know. Nice shirt, loved the look, the fit and first 5 seconds of trying it on. Then my arms started to tingle and I knew Merlino or not it was wool.
