    Innovative hackle pliers - 6/15/2014
    By: from Atlanta, GA

The hackle pliers are unique since they have added a thumb and finger pads. This makes the pliers much more comfortable to use. It should be noted that the two pair that I purchased have nice parallel jaws. One drawback is the inconsistent grooving of the inside of the jaws. I bought two pair and they were both grooved differently. One was so poor that I'm using it in my fly tying classes as what not to buy.

These pliers fit my hand and are comfortable to use. I picked mine out at Orvis Tysons Corner, after spending some time trying out different ones in stock to get the smoothest and best aligned jaws.

    Good Purchase - 8/29/2010

I've been using a pair of tear drop hackle pliers for over 20 years. While they do their job, sometime the hackle will break in the jaws. While at my local Orvis retail store I purchased a Master Series Hackle Pliers. I am really impressed with their holding qualities and construction. These Master Pliers do a great job of winding hackle feathers.

    Excellent Investment - 1/26/2010

Best upgrade in fly tying equipment I made this year. These are much easier to grip than the standard hackle pliers. The large flat surface that grips the hackle seems to aid in preventing breaks. If you tie flies, and you are still using old school hackle pliers, do yourself a favor and buy these. You wont be dissappointed.

    Decent - 5/1/2008
    By: from Boulder, CO

These pliers don't have a "soft rubber grip" as the description says. The jaws are full metal and quite capable of cutting hackle. That said these are decent standard hackle pliers... but don't expect soft rubber pads to be what holds the hackle
