Rod casts like a dream! Accurate at all distances. Very forgiving to setting up with line weights above or below it's rating. Casts great on windy days as well. Well apportioned and cork has a great feel. Can't get any better.
Simply Flawless -

Just got my rod in the mail today! The second it got into my hand I knew it was something special. Not only does it come in a really cool case the weight and detail are just outright ridiculous. Brought it down the road to the closest pond to test it out and caught the biggest bass all summer for me. I was able to reach every part of the pond with extreme casting precision and distance. Great product

where the helios fell short the H2 is long. this feel of this rod is much more pronounced over the original helios. you can feel what the rod is doing more. This "feel" translates to better timing on your loading and power moves in your cast. The "feel" also translates into accuracy as you can tell where the rod tip is pointing. that said this is the first "modern" rod I have used that I feel has struck the balance between old and new graphite. Some of you will understand when I say this rod is slow where you want it to be and fast where you need it to be. I highly recommend demoing this rod to the discerning casting. Throw out all the hype about this ONE or talk about that ONE. Go cast the H2, FEEL the difference. I took two of these rods to a famous casting school in the catskills this spring and students and teachers were impressed. we set all the rods out in a field and rotated through them all. Winston, Sage, Hardy, Scott, TFO, you name it it was there. At the end of the session I could feel the difference in hand and see the result in the distance and accuracy. But again, don't take my word for it. Talk is cheap, go cast one!
Lightest fly rod I've ever fished -
By: Ranger1977 from London, KY
The Helios 2 is the lightest fly rod I've ever fished. I was very unhappy with a Helios ZG tip flex - would not load at short distances and required overweight line to cast even moderate distances. Orvis's 100% guarantee allowed me to exchange it for the Helios 2 in mid-flex. This rod is much more responsive and a true five wts rod.

This rod is simply incredible. I previously owned a Helios ZG and really loved it, the H2 takes the brilliance of the ZG and refines it to literally be a perfect rod. After having an issue with a cracked ferrule on the ZG I was able to get store credit towards an H2. Orvis modified the taper of the rod on the H2 from the original and the balance in hand feels much better. This is the perfect rod for tossing dries. Although it excels with dries it still has enough fortitude to huck some fat streamers or tandem nymph rigs with a heap of split shot. I absolutely love the custom woodwork below the cork, which is unique to every rod. The photo in the catalog does not come close to doing this curly wood inset justice, you must see it in person! I picked up one of the new Battenkill II rods in gunmetal/nickel and its a beautiful match.
Mid flex works for me. -

I have a good tip flex rod that has never been comfortable for me. I can actually feel the mid flex load and casting loops are much closer and easier to control. Oregon streams open next weekend and I am excited to try actual fishing with the rod. I bought the rod as an outfit and that will be the test of Mirage reel and line.

Hands down, one of the best fly rods I have used! Along with its sharp looks, it's extremely light and casts to perfection. Highly recommended.

Most Bestiest Rod -
By: MLeishy from Mandeville, LA
My grammar might be awful, but this rod isn't! This may be one of the cheesiest reviews ever but now i have your attention don't you? I casted this rod when it was given to the Orvis lodges as a prototype. This rod is amazing. Although i had only used it for about an hour that day- I got a migraine and had to go back to the lodge- this was the most amazing rod i have ever had the honor of casting. It made amazing loops and handles effortlessly. it is very light and transitions smoothly. Don't think about how awfully written this review is! Just get this rod before all your friends have it!
