I have been an Orvis customer since 1978 when I purchased my first clearwater 8wt rod in college. Over the years I have upgraded to new Orvis rod technology when there was a strength and weight advantage. Recently I decided to sell my 8wt and 10 wt G.Loomis rods and purchase the 10 Wt Helios 2. That was a great decision as it turns out. My first rod test was 2014 Columbus day weekend on the Salmon River in Upstate NY. I found the rod to be lighter than my old G.Loomis 8wt and significantly more accurate and stronger than my old 11.3' 10 wt. I was able to accurately cast to the other side of the stream over spawning beds within inches from the other bank to tease the salmon into biting my fly. I used to get tired casting my old 10 wt. rod, now I can cast the Helios2 10 wt. all day long with no problem. I landed salmon from 12 to 30 pounds in fast current. The Helios2 is now my go-to-rod for fishing for big stripers and king salmon. Thank you Orvis for continually improving your products over the years! FishOn & Tightlines! Mark New Hampshire
Great Rod, Great Customer Service -

I purchased this rod after breaking my 10 wt Clearwater. Orvis offered to repair my broken rod under warranty, or to upgrade to a Helios 2 for a very reasonable price. I accepted the upgrade and received the rod in short order. Product is fantastic, a noticeable difference in casting characteristics, and better overall quality (i.e. flawless cork grip, reel seat, crush proof guides, etc.). Very happy with product, and as always Orvis customer service is second to none.
Stoked to get a hold of this stick -
Fished this rod for the first time in La Zona, Argentina. Home of the World's Largest Golden Dorado. It was epic! Buddy loaned it to me before the trip! Can't wait to get one to fish for Cobia back in home state of Virginia. These Dorado destroyed all of my dads traditional rods and tackle. It handled my biggest fish, over 30 pounds beautifully. Casted Scientific Angler's Titan Taper with easy. It's definitely stout, but remarkably light. When I focused on the smaller fish on top I changed over to my Helios 1, 9wt. switch and really started to have fun. Super impressive rods! Matched with Mirage well, however preferred Hydros Arbor IV with it due to frantic casting involved as Hydros is lighter. Both drags where great coupled with rod strength. Looking forward to more play time with these sticks. Thanks Orvis and friends.

The rod can hold 22 lbs snook with strengh and power. Casting is easy but requires a heavy line for medium distance. Easy to pick up 22 meters of line and cast again when the permit turn to the left in the last second. Just love it. Perfect 10.
