On the water, we all have the same dreams. We all want to connect with a fish, however fleeting it may be. We all want our line to cut through the wind with the ferocity of a scimitar. We all want to pepper banks with hoppers and swing streamers with preternatural ability. We all want to feel that all is right with the world and that we can do no wrong with a fly rod in our hands. While the Helios 2 5-weight switch rod can't guarantee streamside enlightenment, it certainly brings us all 11 feet closer. Proudly made in Manchester, Vermont.
Why would we take the world's best fly rod and change it? The answer is simple. We're driven by constant improvement. Put this rod in your hands and feel the rush. You'll completely understand.

I have the original Helios and problems with line loading. 5 wt. I took it to the local fly fishing outfitters. They have a person who just works with fly lines. Switch rods tend to be a common issue with all manufacturers with respect to fly lines. We went out back and tried different lines weights. I ended up with a 6 wt switch line. Now the Orvis rod casts like a dream and with very little effort.

I like, sometimes, go to big river for have a chance to catch a big pounder trout...If you are looking for a trout this rod make all jobs you need. Is powerful, cast heavy nymph rig setup with easy...I used with sink additional leader on a switch line and heavy streamer...and works very god. Cast double hand spey, skagit, underhand, terry poke, snake cast with easy. And what's incredible!!!??Is light!!I mean, is the lightest switch rod I ever tried in my life, is really awesome!
Great Job Orvis! -
As soon as I heard, about new H2 switch rod, I run in a shop to try it and was love since minute one... the rod is incredible light, but has much power you may thinking. I use in swinging fly, whit a Mirage IV reel and the new Hydros 3D switchline. You can cast easy, also with airflow sink leader and heavy trout streamers. Fishing ring nimph-eggs pattern will be easier for everybody. I wanna try its in my italian River for big marble trout! Thanks Orvis!
