It's possible to be both versatile and specialized. Just fish with the 105-4 Helios 2 fast action 10-foot 5-wt. and try to think otherwise. Its long reach powers your casts when fishing from drift boats and pontoons, and provides enough line control to roll cast and mend on any sized stream. We've taken an excellent trout rod and simply made it 10 feet in length. You can't have too much of a good thing, right? Proudly made in Manchester, Vermont.
Why would we take the world's best fly rod and change it? The answer is simple. We're driven by constant improvement. Put this rod in your hands and feel the rush. You'll completely understand.

I purchased this rod as a summer gift to myself and to be my new drift boat rod. I had the opportunity to fish from a drift boat on The Yellowstone river right out of YNP and further down river out of Livingstone, both of which a very different waters. This rod was like holding a feather all day, which is nice when you are casting for 8 hours. The rod was incredibly accurate and had so much backbone it was amazing. I am know wanting to buy a couple more H2s.
Best Rod I've Owned -

This fly rod is unbelievably light and amazing to cast. It's great for high sticking nymphing and a great length for mending line.

I own a dozen fishing rods, both from high-end manufacturers (Sage, Scott) and mid-priced (Redington, Cabela's, TFO), including two Helios. The Helios 2 is superior in every way to any of these. It is a dream to cast!
Poor Epoxy Work -
I've tried or built pretty much all 10' 5wt fly rods out there in the past. I have to say the Helios 2 is lighter and more of a pleasure to fish than any other. It truly shines on the water. The only complaint I have is with the epoxy work which is in my opinion, poor. Too many air bubbles in it which pop and leave small craters at the base of most of the recoil snake guides. This should not be for a top of the line fly rod. This epoxy work is why I must rate the rod only a 3.

This rod is the best for most of my fishing in New England. Straight out dry, nymphs, mends even single handed spey. It exceeded my expectation. Matched with the Mirage reel. Best purchase I have made in my 45 years of fly fishing. Shoot this rod knows when the fish is going to hit. Had this rod for 7 weeks and it all I use.

Used it on the Mosouri a week ago.....Great back bone for those monsters that come out of that river. The accuracy and menability were exactly what I hoped for....even it ithe local heavy winds. Great rod

This versatile rod gives you touch, feel and casting distance in one great package. I use it for trout in Colorado and small mouth on midwestern streams with exceptional feel and it easily handles the largest fish - can't go wrong.

Been using Helios Rods for years now and love them. But the Helios 2 is superb. Beautifully constructed and a joy to use. Putting out 50-70 ft of line has never been easier.
