A Great Sweater -
By: RAF1 from Edmonton, Canada
Very soft and a perfect fit through the shoulders and sleeves. The neckline allows the collar of the shirt worn underneath to be readily seen. It's a tad snug through the waist but that's certainly no fault of the sweater. It's something I'm going to have to work on!
Not up to expectation -
Sweater is a little bit large for a medium. Fabric has a nice feel, but it's very fragile, threads pull easily and zipper catches on the fabric. Color is a bright orange, and I had expected a slightly darker rust. Not my best purchase.

Update - neck -
On Jan 7th I wrote a review stating the neck on this sweater to be a true mock, only snug like a tutleneck. However, my husband loves the sweater and the NECK IS NOT A PROBLEM in his opinion. He is pleased with all aspects of this sweater and wears it a lot. Thank you Orvis!
Not for me -

Ordered rust. It was orange. Really orange! Seemed well made but when on really just felt and looked like an everyday sweater. Also had a loose fit for me round middle and waist. A common problem for me with my build, but on this sweater I just thought it hung cheaply. Just not for me or my shape. Sent back.
Nice but... -
The quality is supurb and I was pleased with everything except the neck. Yes, it is lined with a soft cashmere but it is a true mock neck in that you can not turn it down even when fully unzipped. This is not a problem for me except the neck is very snug. It feels more like a turtlemeck. Otherwise this is a beautiful sweater.
Good, not great -
The color description for the "navy" sweater is simply wrong. The color should be described as royal blue or a dark sky blue --it's not navy blue. And it is high-quality, without a doubt, (thick, handsome ribbing, and well-made zipper), but it's not nearly as soft as the description led me to believe. It's a good day-to-day sweater.

Delaine-Merino Shearling Coat
It took 1,200 years to make a men's
shearling coat this good.
An ancient and universal fibre
One of the oldest and most universal fibres, felted or woven wool has been used for garments and household linens since the earliest civilizations. Wool textiles have been documented as far back as 3,000 B.C.
The sheared fleece of sheep, wool is warm, naturally insulating, water-repellent, and extremely durable. Raised in nearly every country worldwide, merino sheep are renowned for the best quality wool.
The superior quality of wool from merino sheep
Thousands of years of evolution and selective breeding have resulted in merino sheep capable of producing a super-fine wool fibre. One square inch of merino fleece produces nearly four times as many wool fibres as other breeds of sheep. Interlaced with millions of microscopic air pockets, which act as Nature’s most effective insulator, merino fibres naturally reduce the passage of heat by trapping air between the woollen fibres. Because merino fibres are smaller in diameter and more abundant than in any other wool, they trap more air and keep the wearer naturally more comfortable.
Versatile, durable, and comfortable
Merino wool keeps the wearer warm in cold weather and cool in hot weather. These remarkable fibres also absorb up to 30% of their own weight in moisture, pulling vapour away from the body so that the wearer stays dry and comfortable regardless of the temperature.
The extremely fine, soft, and crimped nature of its fibres allow for a strong natural elasticity that enhances its high-performance qualities. Merino wool is not only warm, it is water-repellent, odour-resistant, extremely durable, and anti-static, making it ideal for a range of products from performance wear to fine wool suiting.
Fine merino wool is soft, not scratchy!
Modern technology has made it possible to sort and select only the finest merino fibres. Merino wool has a microscopic diameter—about one-third to one-tenth the thickness of a human hair. The smaller the diameter, the finer, softer, and less scratchy the fabric will be. Lustrous merino wool produces fabric that can be worn next to the skin without discomfort, is soft, and always provides an exceptional hand and distinctive style. Orvis offers a wide range of luxuriously soft merino wool clothing for men.
