3-in-1 Loop Spinner

Tying a dubbing loop onto your fly is easy with this handy piece of equipment.

Details

This piece of fly tying equipment is the fastest and most convenient tool we offer for dubbing by the loop method. Simply place the material into the end of dubbing loop, allow the weight of the tool to close the loop, grip the handle, and spin the twisting head for a quick and even dubbing strand. Ball bearings provide silky-smooth rotation, and handle prevents wobbling. Excellent for fly tying large loops.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Average Dubbing Loop Spinner The 3-in-1 loop spinner does help tie dubbing into flies. However, the overall execution of the tool is just average. Here are the major detractors: 1. Threading is not precise on the spinning head and loop tools. 2. I had to clean some machining residue out of the spinning head for it to rotate; the head still ratchets, rather than rotate smoothly. 3. The head spins the loop tool rather than the handle (good for lefties I imagine but I am right-handed). 4. I figured out how to use the wire spring and fixed loops watching non-Orvis online videos; some Orvis instructions or a video would have eased my learning curve. 5. Apparently the handle can also serve as a hair stacker, but I have not figured out how to use that function. 6. The on-line catalog is inaccurate (the featured photo does not match the actual tool; the head is not ball-bearing supported; the tool is not made in USA). Despite these, the tool ties nice loops.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Confused also I too am confused by the second "head". Also how does the handle become a hair stacker? Does it come off the tool? How? A little instruction folder (or something on your web site) would help a lot. Without this information, I cannot recommend this product. I would appreciate some help. Thanks!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bad QA/QC For $29, I would expect better QA/QC by Orvis. I could not use the tool that was shipped to me as the threaded, male ends of the attachments for the 3-in-1 dubbing spinner were too large for the female end of the main part of the tool.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Struggling.... I have always had trouble with dubbing materials, I thought this might be the answer. I do not think I am using it correctly. The tool appears to be very well made, I think I just need some instruction with it.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from NOT TOO SURE I have done my share of dubbing, and this looked like it just might be a solution to; "keeping the loop open for placing the materials". I was confused by the second hook that was included in the package. I would have appreciated a description of use for this $29 item..
