Big power, small package -

Purchased the rod 1 week ago and have gone "unskunked" in 4 outings! Just throw the rod in a backpack and hit the trail. Stout enough for nymphing, high sticking, mending. 60 foot is no problem with great fly turnover fishing with dries. Move over other rods, this one is a keeper!

I bot a 5 weight travel rod to fish trout in the Rockies. Did everything asked of it. Tip flex is great in higher winds.
Easy Transport, Quality for $ -

This is my 4th Orvis Rod of which 2 are Frequent Flyers. I like the FFs because of ease of transport, both in car, plane, etc but also on the trail. I like to hike in to places and sometimes carrying a longer tube or an assembled rod can be a pain. Getting used to the tip flex vs the 25 yr old full flex (different maker) that it replaced! To me price is right--yes it is not a Helios--but for the smaller streams I fish all the extras the Helios offers aren't worth the significant extra $.
