Ordered these shoes online and received them in the mail. Before going home at the post office I tried them on. While tightening the lace the loop that the lace threads through tore out of the boot. I wanted to return them there and then but I had a fly fishing trip to go on... so I ended up using them. See these shoes, are good, they run a little big but the overall quality is sub par... they couldnt even take me pulling on the laces before breaking... thinking about years of abuse in rivers... im sure Ill need new boots soon. If you do end up buying this product just be aware that you should be very gentle when tightening the laces.

I've been waiting for a nice wading boot at this price point for a long time. Orvis has filled the void. It's not too bulky and very light weight. It's nice looking as well. Looking forward to wearing these boots for a long time.

Really like them. They support very well. Wish the laces were thicker.

I just received my Encounter wading boots; have used them twice. My impression is that they are well made and very comfortable. Hold well on slippery rocks, seem to be made of good materials. The test will come in their longevity. I bought some inexpensive Caddis brand boots a couple of years ago that are falling apart. Other Encounter reviews said they hold up well, so I decided to try them. Price is great!

Awesome, awesome, awesome product. The price was very comparable, actually even better than I have found at local fly shops and sporting goods stores. The product its self is GREAT. If you are looking for a light weight, well crafted, easy access, good styled to get in the river with, these are your boots! Buy them now, don't wait!!

I bought these wading boots two sizes larger as a winter boot--allows me to wear two pair of socks to combat the cold water. After three outings I can say they are lightweight, comfortable for a three-four mile walk, easy to get on (big improvement over the entry level Orvis boots I wear in summer) and have what looks to be very good felt. Will have to see how they hold up.

Really pleased with what I got. The boot is comfortable and what I like best is the weight. Can tote these around all day long. A bargain.

I had the opportunity to do extensive field testing of this boot….and let it be known that if I don't like a product, I say so. I can confidently say that these boots have stood up to a ton of abuse over two guide seasons of use. For me, the weight of a boot is important. I walk many miles a day and want something light and comfortable, but built to take a beating. This boot fits the bill! In fact, on many days I would forget I was wearing a test boot because of the comfort. At times, being honest, you hate to take off your preferred or day to day gear to test something. These boots were a joy to wear and test...and they are still very much a part of my gear!
