    These are different than the tungsten coneheads I used to buy from Orvis. These are a little taller making them harder to get around the bend of many hooks. The large size would not fit around the bend of the Orvis size 2, 4x long streamer hook. If you compare these to the same size Orvis brass coneheads, the brass are shorter and will fit around the bend of more hooks including the 4x long streamer hooks. If you have an oversized hook, these are good coneheads. Quality seems consistent as well. They are just too tall for some applications.

    These cone heads are excellent they fit well and are not hard to put on your hooks. They are weighted nicely and add some bling to your flies.

    excellent product - 2/7/2013

    These Orvis tungsten coneheads are well made and offered in several colors for getting streamers in front of fish in fast water. Heavier than brass cones, these coneheads are environmentally friendly and easier to use versus adding lead shot.

    I tie lead free, so these are the solution to weighting my streamers. The lead free cone head wooly bugger is numero uno for me, with the slumpbuster in close pursuit. These cones are well made with smooth edges - no burrs.

    Tungsten = Better. More Tungsten = Best! - 11/13/2009

    I've been tying nymphs and streamers for several years and if there's one thing I've learned about making these flies successful it's getting them down in the water column. I recently switched to using tungsten beads almost exclusively and even doubling up and tying two bead tungsten flies when I want to get deep. A little more expensive, but it seems to be worth it.
