great pack -
I was looking for a replacement for a traditional vest....chest packs didn't work for me....this was recommended by a friend, ....2 large pocket areas...a bit of a challenge for organizing,...but can hold everything plus for weather situations,..took me a few trips to arrange things the way I wanted, but there are many options for accessories...I was torn between the traditional versus water proof pack, but after 2 days fishing in the rain, I'm all for water proof!...so I now have it "personalized" to my style and I think it is great...

I used the previous version of this pack and didn't like it much... not very ergonomic or laid-out as well. This is a huge improvement. A lower profile and more ergonomic makes it more comfortable and the zippers are placed in better positions for easier access. I use this exclusively for surf fishing and waves have yet to penetrate the bag.
Nice product...buoyant too! -

I fell in the White River over the weekend attempting to free a rainbow that was snagged on branch. I was almost within reach of the rainbow when I went completely under. To my surprise, the Gale Force Sling Pack had enough captured air in it to keep me buoyant until I could gain my footing. An hour later after everything had dried out I was back in the water throwing streamers. I don't believe the sling was built for life saving, however, on that day it passed the test!

if i could change a few minor things this pack would be the pack they bury me with. With that said it is the closest thing ive come to perfection for my fishing style. I took this pack into the salt surf fishing on a red flag day. Waves were crashing over me and it was submurged often. I was surprised that thou there was some water in the pack it was very minimal... (I may aswell have been swimming under water with it) This pack is a great size and very comfortable. There are mesh pockets for storeing items however i feel it could be setup a bit more efficently. I do wish there was another tippet loop like the safe passage sling pack and also more zinger locations. I can overlook those minor faults and say unequivically i love this pack. I own the Fishpond west water backpack that i pack extra gear in to keep in the drift boat but the pack i have on me at all times is the Gale force sling. You will not be disappointed that you bought it.
surprised by the room -

I was lucky enough to win this sling pack at a recent TU chapter meeting raffle. I was surprised by the room and the functionality of the pack. I generally use a lanyard when fishing ,but decided to use only my new sling pack my last time on the water. I was surprised that it worked so well for me. It's comfortable as well. I can vouch for great water resistant qualities. While entering the river I slipped a little and a "sit down" on the bank. The pack wasn't totally submerged but it got wet enough:) All my gear inside was fine and dry. The pack also stood up well to the light rain shower that day. My only complaint would be that I wish it had a better spot to hang a tippet holder.

I also own the guide sling which has more room but can be heavy after a day on the river. This is water resistant and also has less room but has plenty for a day on the river. It's lighter and slimmer. Has compartments inside for leaders, and tools. Waiting to see if it holds up under extreme or significant water exposure. So far I love it!!
