The Orvis Saltwater Fly Fishing Festival will take place from Thursday 3rd to Sunday 6th September in Chichester Harbour and Hayling Island. Based from our Chichester Store, the competition will begin on Saturday 5th for a full day's fishing followed by a half-day on Sunday 6th before the prizegiving in the afternoon.
Prizes include: ‘Longest Bass’, ‘Longest Mullet’, ‘Longest Other Species’, ‘Most Number of Species’, ‘Junior Angler’ and ‘Orvis Award for Most Sporting Fisherman’ as well as prizes for Runner’s Up across the first four categories.
The competition days will be assisted by four Orvis Saltwater Guides across four locations. This includes Neville Broad, Colin Macleod, Philip Spratt, Michael Rescorle.
All fish are catch and release only and must be photographed with a witness against a measurement provided by Orvis at the start of the competition.
Tickets cost £95 for the full schedule and competition, including entry into the special clinics, welcome evening at Orvis Chichester on Thursday 3rd and film screening evening on Friday 4th.
Entry to just the Saturday/Sunday competition and prizegiving will cost £70.

How do I buy tickets?
On this booking page, you will see an option to select either a ‘full schedule’ or ‘competition only’ ticket. After selecting the quantity of tickets requires, click ‘Add to Basket’. You will then be directed payment. Following successful payment, you will automatically be emailed your ticket. We will then send you a welcome pack containing important information, such as fishing locations, as soon as this has been confirmed. You must present your ticket to us on arrival to the festival.
Where are the fishing locations?
These are TBC. Our guides are still working hard to identify fishing locations that are both safe and offer great fishing. A comprehensive map of where to fish and where not to fish will be included in the aforementioned welcome pack after purchasing your ticket.
How can I get to the fishing locations?
Once the guides have allocated who is fishing where, you can either drive yourself or share a lift with someone. We will recommend the closest/most suitable parking to the marks.
Where can I park in Chichester during for the store events, entertainment and prize-giving?
Please consult the parking map from the Chichester website: here. The closest car park to the Orvis Chichester Store is Cawley Priory Cark Park. Jubilee Hall has minimal parking spaces, so if you are unable to find a space, the closest car park is New Park Road Car Park.
Do I need to bring my own fishing kit?
Yes. There will not be any kit provided however we will have guides on hand for advice about what kit to buy, where to fish, proper technique, as well as a comprehensive Bass and Mullet masterclass as part of the £95 festival ticket.
Does the price include accommodation and food?
The £95 Festival ticket will include light refreshments on Thursday and Friday evening at the Orvis Chichester Store Events. For those just attending on competition days, no food or clinics are included. Neither tickets include accommodation however see our recommendations below.
Do I need a fishing licence?
Most Saltwater Fly Fishing in the UK does not require a fishing licence. You will not need one to compete in the Orvis Saltwater Fly Fishing Festival.
I’m a novice, can I still enter?
Absolutely – this is a fun and friendly festival open to all abilities and ages.
What is the difference between a £70 entry fee and a £95 entry fee?
£95 – Full Festival Schedule Ticket (Thursday – Sunday) £70 – Saturday and Sunday Competition only (including prizegiving).
I’d like to bring my other half; do they need to buy a ticket?
If your other half intends to fish, they will also need to purchase a ticket. If they do not wish to fish, however, they are welcome to watch and have a go at our ‘5050 On The Water’ casting clinic which is to be held at Orvis Chichester amongst other non-competitor events.
Can I keep my catch?
No. All fishing during the festival is on a strictly catch-and-release basis.
