Free Learn to Fly Fish

Our popular range of fun, free and simple fly-fishing classes are a wonderful way to discover this inspirational and adventurous sport. Available regularly in-store, these engaging sessions cover all the fundamentals, including habitat, equipment, essential knots, fly selection and casting. So whether you're after for something fun to do with the family, or you want to learn about fly fishing and are looking how to get started, we have something for you. Find out more.

Specialist Learn to Fly Fish Sessions

Through the year we'll also be bringing some Specialist FF101 classes to the store. These classes are an opportunity to focus or improve on specific aspects to fly-fishing. The 60-90minute store-based classes, offered without charge, provide a deeper understanding of specialist skills, such as seasonal tactics, targeting species and fishing coastal waters. Find out more and book.

Local Waters

Orvis Stockbridge sits in the heart of the world-famous Test Valley, surrounded by the finest chalkstream waters in the world. Our expert team can offer simple and useful advice about visiting and fishing local rivers, lakes and even coastal waters.

We can recommend several local stillwater fisheries offering easily accessible fly fishing - Wherwell Estate, Holbury Lakes, John O'Gaunts and Dever Springs. Beyond the valley, great fishing can be found at Manningford Fishery on the Avon, also Avington Lakes, Meon Springs, and Rockbourne Fishery to name just a few. Olly has been managing our Stockbridge store since 2010. Living locally for most of his adult life, he loves to indulge in what the Test Valley has to offer, in particular his keen interest in fly fishing. It was fly fishing that built the foundation for Olly’s relationship and eventual employment with Orvis. Olly believes both Orvis and the  historic Stockbridge High Street can cater to all your needs—whether it be classic country attire or first-class dining. Olly and his staff would like to give you the warmest welcome!
