When and where is the Orvis Saltwater Fly Fishing Festival being held?

The event will take place from Friday 30th August to Sunday 1st September 2024 at the Langstone Quays Resort, Northney Rd, Portsmouth, Hayling Island PO11 0NQ and the surrounding areas of Hayling Island and Chichester Harbour.

Do I need a physical ticket?

No physical tickets are sent out prior to the event, all communications are sent via email.

What does my ticket type mean?
Competitor Ticket
  • For anyone wanting to compete in the Orvis Saltwater Fly Fishing Festival Competition.
  • Competition fishing on Friday afternoon, and all day Saturday and Sunday.
  • Exclusive competition fishing marks.
  • Amazing competition prizes.
  • Entrance to Saturday evening social.
    Festival Ticket
    • For those who would prefer to come and improve their skills rather than focus on competing.
    • Educational Friday workshops with guides & casting clinics with professional instructors.
    • Saturday and Sunday guided beach workshops on non-competitor marks with professional fishing guides.
    • Entrance to Saturday evening social.
    Youth Ticket
    • Under 18s only.
    • Attendance to Friday morning presentations.
    • Entry to Friday afternoon Youth Competition, with exclusive fishing marks.
    Youth+ Competition Ticket
    • Under 18s only.
    • All activities available to Youth Ticket holders.
    • All day Saturday and Sunday Competition fishing. 
    • Exclusive competition fishing marks.

    Youth+ Festival Ticket

    • All activities available to Youth Ticket holders.

    Is there an age limit to the Youth and Youth+ tickets?

    Youth and Youth+ tickets are only available for persons under the age of 18 on August 30th 2024.

    There is no lower age restriction however entrants to the Youth Competition, and Saturday and Sunday's Festival Competition must be capable of fishing for an extended period of time without external assistance in order to enter. 

    Youth and Youth+ ticket holders must also be supervised by a responsible adult at all times during their attendance to any of the Orvis Saltwater Fly Fishing Festival activities.

    Can I change my ticket type?

    You can upgrade your ticket from a Festival ticket to a Competitor ticket up to 48 hours in advance of the event subject to availability. Contact customerservice@orvis.co.uk for more details.

    I bought a Festival or Competition ticket for someone else, do they need access to the Orvis Saltwater Fly Fishing Festival Portal?

    Yes. To make everything as easy as possible we'll be rounding up all the information attendees will need ahead of the festival and adding it to the easy to use Orvis Saltwater Fly Fishing Festival Portal attendee portal over the coming months.

    We'll also be emailing attendees when we make important updates and additions. So to make sure they stay up to date and don't miss any announcements, please make sure you provide us with the details of your extra ticket holders on this form so we can contact them about how they can access the portal.

    If you are attending with an under 18, they will not be required to access the portal themselves. As the ticket purchaser, you will be able to access it in their stead to ensure you have all the information they need ahead of the weekend.

    Please note: any details we receive for extra ticket holders will only be used for communications directly related to this event, unless they choose to opt in to Orvis marketing when they sign up.

    I bought a Youth or Youth+ ticket for someone else, do they need access to the Orvis Saltwater Fly Fishing Festival Portal?

    As Youth Ticket holders are under 18, they will not be required to access the portal themselves. As the ticket purchaser, you will be able to access it in their stead to ensure you have all the information they need ahead of the weekend.

    To help us prepare for the Youth Competition and complete their entry, please provide the name and date of birth of the Youth Ticket holder on this form.

    Can I bring someone who isn't attending the festival to the Saturday Social?

    Competitor, Festival and Youth+ tickets will include entry into the Saturday social events, which includes food and drink for all.

    If you wish to purchase a Saturday Social ticket for a partner or guest, please do so by purchasing an extra ticket in the Saltwater Festival Portal. A guest can only attend with a valid Saltwater Fly Fishing Festival ticket holder present.

    What are the rules for the competition?

    Please refer to our Competition Rules for the most up to date guidance. 

    The rules may be updated closer to the competition so please check back nearer the time to re-familiarise yourself.

    What are the prize-winning categories for the competition?
    • ‘Longest Bass’ – 1st Place & Runner Up
    • ‘Longest Mullet’ – 1st Place & Runner Up
    • ‘Longest Other Species’ – 1st Place & Runner Up
    • ‘Most Number of Species’ – 1st Place & Runner Up
    • ‘Award for Most Sporting Angler’

    Special prizes will also be presented in categories by event partners including Fulling Mill, YETI and Bass Anglers Sportfishing Society.

    Do I need to bring tackle/equipment to the event?

    Yes, you must provide your own equipment for the weekend. A full kit list is available here and through the Orvis Saltwater Fly Fishing Festival portal.

    Will I be able to buy equipment at the event?

    We will have a pop-up shop in the Langstone Suite with a selection of tackle, flies, tippet and other consumables, and fishing clothing.

    Is lunch provided?

    No, please bring a packed lunch and plenty of drinking water with you on all days of the event. We suggest bringing a sandwich, water and any other sustenance as the shops on Hayling Island are very limited.

    Is travel provided between venues during the event?

    No. It's important to note that aspects of the event are not based at the Langstone Quays Hotel. We recommend having access to a car or bike during the weekend.

    Where can I park?

    In the schedule and fishing marks information we have given details of the nearest parking; however, it may be limited. We recommend arriving early to secure a parking space as close to the session as possible. Please remember to bring change with you for car parks or download any relevant car parking apps.

    What happens if the event is cancelled?

    In the unfortunate event that the festival is cancelled or postponed, attendees will be notified by email 7 days in advance of the event date. If the event is cancelled, we will refund your ticket.

    All attendees will be required to sign an acknowledgement of risk form before attending the event. If you are attending with an under 18, you will be asked to sign an acknowledgement of risk form in their stead and be responsible for them for the duration of their time at the event.
