Orvis Saltwater Fly Fishing Festival 2025 - FAQs
When and where is the Orvis Saltwater Fly Fishing Festival being held?
The event will take place from Friday 27th to Sunday 29th June 2025 at the Langstone Quays Resort, Northney Rd, Portsmouth, Hayling Island PO11 0NQ and the surrounding areas of Hayling Island and Chichester Harbour.
Do I need a physical ticket?
No physical tickets are sent out prior to the event, all communications are sent via email.
What does my ticket type mean?
Competitor Ticket
- For anyone wanting to compete in the Orvis Saltwater Fly Fishing Festival Competition.
- Competition fishing on Friday afternoon, Friday night and all day Saturday and Sunday.
- Exclusive competition fishing marks.
- Amazing competition prizes.
- Entrance to Saturday evening social.
Festival Ticket
- For those who would prefer to come and improve their skills rather than focus on competing .
- Educational Friday workshops with guides & casting clinics with professional instructors.
- Saturday and Sunday guided beach workshops on non-competitor marks with professional fishing guides.
- Entrance to Saturday evening social.
Youth Ticket
- Under 18s only.
- Entry to Saturday and Sunday Youth Competition, with exclusive fishing marks.
- Entry to Saturday and Sunday Festival Competition.
- Entrance to Saturday evening social.
- We understand that the event takes place during school term, however, if for any reason the youth angler is not at school, they are welcome to join the Festival activities on Friday 27th June, but will not be able to register any catches toward the Youth Competition on that day.
Is there an age limit to the Youth tickets?
Youth tickets are only available for persons under the age of 18 on 27th June 2025.
There is no lower age restriction however entrants to the Youth Competition, and Saturday and Sunday's Festival Competition must be capable of fishing for an extended period of time without external assistance in order to enter.
Youth ticket holders must also be supervised by a responsible adult at all times during their attendance to any of the Orvis Saltwater Fly Fishing Festival activities.
Can I change my ticket type?
You can upgrade your ticket from a Festival ticket to a Competitor ticket up to 48 hours in advance of the event subject to availability. Contact customerservice@orvis.co.uk for more details.
When will we know more about the schedule and what's planned for the weekend?
In the coming months we will be launching the Orvis Saltwater Fly Fishing Festival Attendee Portal which will be your hub of information both before and during the event. All ticket purchasers will have immediate access once it is available.
We will email ticket holders* when we make significant updates - for example, when the Portal is available and when pre-registration launches prior to the event - so please ensure you add notifyme@orvis.co.uk and customerservice@orvis.co.uk to your Safe Senders list to ensure you don't miss any updates.
*If you are currently not subscribed to Orvis email, you will only receive informational updates about the events you have purchased tickets to and will not receive all Orvis emails.
Is lunch provided?
No, please bring a packed lunch and plenty of drinking water with you on all days of the event. We suggest bringing a sandwich, water and any other sustenance as the shops on Hayling Island are very limited.
Is travel provided between venues during the event?
No. It's important to note that aspects of the event are not based at the Langstone Quays Hotel. We recommend having access to a car or bike during the weekend.
When is the night competition fishing session?
Night competition fishing will run on the night of Friday 27th June into the early hours of Saturday 28th June.
Do I have to take part in night competition fishing?
No, taking part in our night fishing session is completely optional.
Please be aware that if you do choose to take part there are additional rules & requirements in place to ensure the safety of all of our nighttime anglers.
Is the night competition fishing session a separate competition to the main Festival competition?
No, the night competition fishing session is considered as a part of the overall Orvis Saltwater Fly Fishing Festival Competition and as such, you need to hold a Competitor Ticket to take part. However, there will be additional prizes for catches made during the night competition hours.
Do I have to decide if I want to join the night fishing session before the Festival starts?
No. We will release details of registration for the night fishing session nearer to the event.
What happens if the event is cancelled?
In the unfortunate event that the festival is cancelled or postponed, attendees will be notified by email 7 days in advance of the event date. If the event is cancelled, we will refund your ticket.
All attendees will be required to sign an acknowledgement of risk form before attending the event. If you are attending with an under 18, you will be asked to sign an acknowledgement of risk form in their stead and be responsible for them for the duration of their time at the event.
