This year we've decided to bring a piece of the Orvis Saltwater Fly Fishing Festival to the Beginners Weekend, so now your ticket also includes entrance to our Saturday evening social, details to be announced at a later date!

THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE BOOKING:

  • The Beginners Weekend will start early on Saturday morning and run through until late afternoon on Sunday.
  • You will be required to log in to/ create an Orvis account to book tickets.
  • You must provide your own kit for the weekend, see our Kit List for advice and recommendations.
  • No physical tickets are sent out prior to the event and all information will be available to you ahead of the event in the Orvis Beginners Saltwater Weekend Portal. 
  • If you are purchasing a ticket for someone else, you will need to provide their name and email address to transfer the ticket to them so they are able to access all of the information they need for the festival. Details of how to do this will be sent out at a later date.
  • Aspects of the event are not based at the Langstone Quays Hotel. We recommend having access to a car or bike during the weekend.
  • Under 18s must be accompanied by an adult.

THE STORY

We're back again with the fifth annual Orvis Beginners Saltwater Weekend, coming to Hayling Island and the surrounding area in May 2025. The weekend gives people an accessible opportunity to make fly fishing their passion, particularly those looking to learn and wanting to explore the outdoors in new and exciting ways.

In 2025, the Beginners Saltwater Weekend will take place on Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th May from the Langstone Quays Resort on Hayling Island.

The event is held over two days and includes talks on fly fishing kit, saltwater species, where to fish, tactics, as well as casting clinics. Followed by a series of guided beach workshops, everyone will have the opportunity to try and catch a fish and test out their new skills. Also, new for 2025, we're bringing a slice of the Orvis Saltwater Fly Fishing Festival to the Beginners Weekend with our Saturday social! Details will be confirmed at a later date, but you can expect some warm food and some cold beers, all included in the price of your ticket.

You'll be expertly guided and looked after by our team of professional saltwater fly fishing guides and casting instructors during sessions which are all focused on the basics of saltwater fly fishing and fly casting. Did you know that you can never be more than around 70 miles from the coast in the UK? This event celebrates the incredible saltwater fly fishing we have on offer, which is so accessible to amateur and professional anglers alike.

No physical tickets are sent out and all information will be available to you in the Orvis Saltwater Fly Fishing Festival Portal ahead of the event.
