The days are not just about the fishing but about experiencing everything around them—the scenery, the wildlife, the river. Each day starts with a walk along the river, learning about the areas and water before casting a line. We then fish until lunch, which is whenever hunger strikes, and then fish again until late afternoon.

Days can be tailored to suit the conditions. If the fish are rising in the evening, we will fish the evening. Locations can change throughout the day, trying different beats and even moving to a different river.

A trip to the local brewery tap room and a list of the brewery can be arranged, as well as either a packed lunch or a visit to a local public house for a proper Derbyshire lunch."

The Derwent is fed by Ladybower Reservoir in Derbyshire, which takes its water from the peat moors, giving the Derwent River a peaty tinge. It is a limestone river that can be rocky in places with some steep banks. When you are in the river, you are away from the public, in your own world. The river is lined with a number of species of trees, giving amazing colours through the summer and autumn months. There is also wild garlic and mint in abundance, which leaves a distinct scent.

The River Wye is a smaller, more intimate river that feeds into the River Derwent. This is also a limestone river but doesn’t hold the colour of the Derwent; it is similar in appearance to a chalk stream.

All equipment, if required, is included in the pricing. The only additional purchase required is a national rod licence, which can be purchased online.
