There’s just one week to go until our annual Beginner’s Saltwater Weekend, where attendees will spend two days on Hayling Island learning all they need to know about fly fishing kit, saltwater species, where to fish, tactics, as well as taking part in casting clinics.
These clinics, followed by a series of guided beach workshops allow everyone the opportunity to try and catch a fish and test out their new skills.
We are thrilled to have the invaluable support of the Game Angling Instructors Association (GAIA) and their trusted instructors leading guided casting sessions at the event. With the largest membership in the UK & Ireland, GAIA offer a wealth of fly-fishing expertise, knowledge, and experience.
John Reynolds, GAIA Chairman said “The Game Angling Instructors Association have once again been invited to coach at the Orvis Beginner’s Saltwater Weekend. We are delighted to participate in this extremely popular weekend. The Association will be sending 10 instructors who are experienced in all forms of saltwater flyfishing. We will be mentoring 80 keen saltwater fly fishers of all abilities. There will also be some Orvis saltwater gear available for them to try out.”
He continued “Our instructors will for example be showing the participants how to stay safe on the shore, how to combat an adverse wind and how to gain more distance. This year we have an excellent location for the tuition at Hayling Park, a short distance from the Festival HQ at the Langstone Quays Resort. Many thanks to Havant Council and Hayling Island Community Centre for letting us use their facilities.
It should be a great day. If you can’t make it and need a brush up or help with your casting, why not contact www.gameanglinginstructors.co.uk and click ‘Find an Instructor’.”
