This summer, we're taking our Free Learn to Fly Fish 101 (FF101) sessions on the road, giving more people the opportunity to discover fly fishing at two of the UK's best loved countryside events: The Game Fair and Chatsworth Country Fair.
Whether you've never picked up a fly rod before or you're simply curious about what fly fishing is all about, our team will be on hand to help you get started.
Why Try Fly Fishing?
Fly fishing continues to grow as more people discover the joy of being outside, learning new skills and connecting with nature. Last summer alone, more than 1,500 people joined us across The Game Fair and Chatsworth Country Fair for FF101 sessions, with families, complete beginners and experienced anglers all stepping into the casting area.
That mix of curiosity, learning and community is exactly what makes these events so special and why we’re excited to bring them back again this year.
Free Learn to Fly Fish on the Road
At both events, you'll find Orvis in the Fishing Village offering FF101 sessions throughout the weekend. Visitors can drop in, pick up a rod and learn the fundamentals of fly casting in a relaxed and friendly environment.
No equipment is required and no experience is necessary. Our team will help you build confidence with a rod, guiding you through the basics and answering any questions along the way.
Alongside the tuition sessions, you'll also have the opportunity to meet the Orvis team, test cast our full rod range and discover why so many people are choosing fly fishing as a way to spend more time outdoors.
The focus isn’t on perfection. It’s about giving fly fishing a go and having fun while you do it.
The Game Fair
Join us in the Fishing Village throughout the weekend for free FF101 sessions, casting tuition, test casting across the full Orvis rod range and great prizes up for grabs.
You’ll be able to cast with Orvis’ James Doyle and Olly Newberry, alongside Zoe Dupuy, Paul Bettley and Joe Walker.

You'll find us in the Fishing Village with our friends at Mallon & Green, delivering the same free Learn to Fly Fish experience we bring to The Game Fair.
Joining us at Chatsworth will be Orvis’ James Doyle, Zoe Dupuy and local Orvis Endorsed Guides Chad Critchley and Ian Griffin.
Set against the stunning backdrop of Chatsworth House, it’s a fantastic place to experience fly fishing for the first time.
