Summer on the Move: Fly Fishing & Community

From riverside debates to fields full of fly fishing enthusiasts, this summer has been one of meaningful connection for Orvis UK, with more to come in August.

UK River Summit: Collaboration for Change

Set against the powerful backdrop of Britain’s river crisis, the UK River Summit once again brought together a bold cross-section of voices – from scientists and politicians to anglers and artists. As proud supporters of this unique event, we were inspired by the way it continues to challenge the norm.

8th July at Morden Hall was filled with impactful panel discussions that didn’t shy away from asking difficult questions. Cross-party collaboration, citizen science, water company accountability, and the power of storytelling through art and performance all had their moment.

At Orvis, we were proud to be there once again, offering our Free Learn to Fly Fish Courses and the opportunity to test-cast our full range of rods.

A huge well done to Claire Zambuni, and to all the supporters and sponsors, for delivering such a thoughtful and inspiring day. The UK River Summit is more than just an event – it’s helping to shape a national movement, and the momentum coming out of this year’s summit felt stronger than ever.

The Game Fair: Casting & Community

Just a few weeks later, our team was at The Game Fair at Ragley Hall, where we ran Free Learn to Fly Fish 101s all weekend long. Hundreds of people joined us, many picking up a rod for the very first time.

It was a joy to see families, friends and complete strangers discovering the quiet focus of casting and leaving with a new appreciation for fly fishing. Our thanks go to our brilliant instructors – James Doyle, Olly Newberry – and guest guides Zoe Dupuy, Paul Bettley, and Joe Walker, who made every session count.

We also hosted a buzzing Happy Hour with our friends at YETI Europe and Lakedown Brewing Co., with our bespoke YETI tumblers flying off the bar in under 20 minutes. Guests enjoyed cold beers and plenty of fishing chat – huge thanks to both brands for supporting our fly fishing community as always.
