What’s On This Winter at Orvis Stockbridge

There’s always plenty going on at Orvis Stockbridge, and this winter is no different. From conversations about the future of our rivers to evenings spent tying flies and catching up with fellow anglers, the shop is a place to share knowledge, swap stories and celebrate the community that makes fishing so special.

Here’s what’s been happening and what’s coming up over the next two months.

Looking back: An evening with Charles Jardine and Marnie Lovejoy

On 15th October, we welcomed the Stockbridge community for an evening with Charles Jardine, renowned angler, author and artist, and Marnie Lovejoy, Chair of the Grayling Society.

Together, they shared a fascinating conversation exploring Charles’s lifetime on the chalkstreams, Marnie’s observations on their future and the important role grayling play.

It was a brilliant evening of shared stories, new perspectives and a common passion for fishing and the rivers we love. Thank you to everyone who joined us, and to Lakedown Brewing Co for keeping our guests hydrated.

Fulling Mill Pro Team Tour | 4th December

We’re looking forward to welcoming members of the Fulling Mill Pro Tying Team to Stockbridge for an afternoon of fly tying, stories and expert advice.

Join us from 3pm to 8.30pm to watch the team at the vice, pick up a few tips and talk all things fly fishing over a beer, kindly supported by Lakedown Brewing Co.

Steven Shorrock will be tying his go-to river nymphs for trout and grayling, Gareth Lewis will share signature river patterns from his 2026 Fly Drop, and Sean Thomas will demonstrate his favourite UK saltwater patterns.

The event is free to attend, so pop in, meet the team and pick up some inspiration for your next trip.

Annual Flies & Pies | 10th December

Park Up. Tie Flies. Eat Pies with Orvis and PARKIT.

On 10th December, we’re bringing everyone together for our annual Flies & Pies evening, in partnership with PARKIT.

Starting at 6pm, expect fly tying with our experts, amazing hot meat pies and something sweet and festive for dessert, great company and Lakedown Brewing Co. beer, all in support of Fishing for Heroes, a charity helping armed services veterans get out on the water. There’ll also be a fantastic charity raffle at 7.30pm, giving us another opportunity to support a brilliant cause.

It’s a chance to enjoy an evening with fellow anglers while giving something back.

The Orvis Guide Christmas Party

Our guides and partners play a huge part in the Orvis community, helping anglers discover new waters, develop their skills and get more out of their time on the river. Each year, we bring our professional guiding and partner network together for our annual Christmas party, with complimentary drinks, nibbles and a chance to catch up away from the water.

It’s our way of saying thank you for their continued support, expertise and enthusiasm throughout the year, and celebrating the people who help make everything we do possible. Invites dropping into inboxes soon!

Autumn and Winter Fly Tying Schools

If you’ve been meaning to spend more time at the vice, our fly tying schools are a great place to start. Whether you’re building confidence with the basics or looking to develop your skills and learn new patterns, there’s always something to take away from time spent tying alongside other anglers.

Our Winter Fly Tying School starts on 17th January, offering another opportunity to learn, share ideas and keep fishing firmly on the agenda through the colder months.

We hope to see you in the shop soon. Keep an eye on our social channels for event details, and if you’re passing through Stockbridge, pop in for a chat.
