Begin Your Fly Fishing Adventure at the Orvis Saltwater Fly Fishing Festival 2026
Since 2020 we have been bringing Orvis Saltwater Events to Hayling Island to build a community of people who share the same passions: fly fishing, the outdoors, and adventure. In a world filled with disconnect and overload, we at Orvis are proud to have created events that offer everyone from complete fly fishing beginners to experienced anglers the opportunity to come together, pause, and simply take time to enjoy themselves, alongside learning, improving and competing.
2026 is going to see a significant change for us as we combine our Beginners Saltwater Weekend and the original Orvis Saltwater Fly Fishing Festival into one 4-day celebration of our sport: Orvis Saltwater Fly Fishing Festival 2026.
Most people begin their fly fishing journey on rivers or stillwaters. But at the Orvis Saltwater Fly Fishing Festival 2026, you’ll start somewhere different: right on the coastline. And that’s the beauty of it. The festival offers two days designed specifically for complete beginners – even if you’ve never picked up a fly rod before. With patient guidance, expert tuition and the sea as your backdrop, it’s the perfect way to take your first steps into the sport.
What can I expect?
We start off by going back to basics, with beginner friendly classroom learning, introducing everyone to saltwater fly fishing covering such topics as tactics, locations, fish species and more.
We also layer in practical skills learning through fly rod casting sessions, focused on casting at distance and dealing with the weather.
On-the-Water Experience
On Thursday afternoon and Friday, our expert fly fishing guides will be taking you down to the beach and out on the water.
You'll be able to put your new skills to the test with support from your fellow anglers and with coaching and tactical fly fishing tips from our Festival guides.
Time to Wind Down
There's nothing better after your Thursday session of saltwater fly fishing than time to relax with your fellow beginners in a casual, friendly environment.
Then Friday night will be the big one! You'll be joined by our Friday to Sunday improvers and competitors, coming together at The Orvis x YETI Night Station for a relaxed evening on the beach before heading home.
